Meeting
during the Annual Meeting of the Association of American
Geographers -AAG
|
A group of officials and national representatives of
various specialized organizations of the Organization
of American States gathered recently to broaden understanding
of various institutional initiatives, to consider priorities
affecting the hemisphere, and to strengthen collaboration
among the respective interests of the specialized organizations
of the OAS. The United States National Section of the
PanAmerican Institute for Geography and History (USNS-PAIGH)
held this Meet-and-Greet event during the Annual Meeting
of the Association of American Geographers (AAG) in Washington,
DC on Friday, April 16, 2010. Among the attendees were
representatives of the Geography, Cartography, and History
commissions of PAIGH as well as special guests from sister
specialized organizations of OAS, namely, the InterAmerican
Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), the PanAmerican
Health Organization (PAHO), and the Inter-American Commission
of Women (CIM). The event was hosted by the AAG and the
US National Section Geography Commission during the world's
largest academic and scientific disciplinary conference,
attended by an estimated 8,200 scholars and practitioners
from more than 75 countries.
