ANALYZING THE FUTURE AND RENEWING THE OFFICIALS OF THE HYDROGRAPHIC COMMITTEE OF THE CARTOGRAPHY COMMISSION OF THE PAIGH

On the successful eleventh occasion, the Hydrographic Committee of the Cartography Commission of the PAIGH met in the Navy Club in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, during the period 4-6 of July, 2005. The event was able to count on the presence of the Director of the International Hydrographic Organization, Capt. Hugo Gorziglia Antolini. Also, the departing President of the Committee, Capt. Roberto Garnham, of the Chilean Hydrographic Service, presented his report on activities. Those present paid special attention to the theme of new technologies and the updating of the hydrographic charts, in particular regarding the acquisition, processing and use of Multihaz data. Finally, the Committee elected as entering President, the Director of the Oceanographic Institute of the Ecuadorian Navy, Capt. Mario Proaño Silva, who will take to the Technical Meeting of the Cartography Commission the results of the deliberations and its contribution to the goals of the Commission for the next four years.
