17 GEOGRAPHIC NAMES COURSES HAVE NOW BEEN OFFERED IN THE REGION

From 22 August to 2 September, 2005, in the offices of the National Geographic Institute "Tommy Guardia" of Panama, the 17th "José Joaquín Hungría Morell" course on Geographic Names of the Cartography Commission of the PAIGH was successfully held. The inaugural act was presided over by the Vice-Minister of Public Works of Panama, Luis Manuel Hernández. Also, the closing act counted on the presence of geographer Alberto McKay, Vice-President of the PAIGH, as well as the President of the National Section, and President of the "Tommy Guardia" National Geographic Institute, Ing. Carlos Laguna, and the coordinator of the course and the working group on Geographic Names, Mr. Roger Payne.

Some moments captured during the teaching offered by the international instructors of the course. One of the objectives of the activity is to contribute to the strengthening of the "Tommy Guardia" Institute as the National Authority in Panama in matters of all types concerning Geographic Names
