THE CONVENIENCE OF COMBINING THE EXPERIENCES OF THE FOUR COMMISSIONS OF THE PAIGH IN TECHNICAL PROJECTS WILL BE EVALUATED


The 2004 Meeting of the US National Section of the PAIGH was held on 17-18 May in the EROS Data Center of the US Geological Service. The Meeting was presided over by Dr. Clarence W. Minkel, President of the US National Section and was also attended by the Exectutive Secretary, Jacqueline Klaver. The agenda of the Meeting also included a presentation by the Secretary General of the PAIGH, Santiago Borrero who spoke of the current situation and future of the PAGH. The proposed technical assistance projects were also discussed and evaluated, as well as the resolutions that the National Section will submit for consideration by the Directing Council of the PAIGH in its next meeting (San José, Costa Rica, November, 2004). The annual reports of the four Commissions were also presented:

1. Cartography: Dr. John Kelmelis
2. Geography: Dr. David J. Robinson
3. History: Dr. Georgette Dorn
4. Geophysics: Dr. Bruce Presgrave

The delegates interchanged working sessions with the scientists of the EDC and took advantage of the situation to present a seminar about the PAIGH that included presentations by Dr. Minkel and Santiago Borrero and the participation of a good number of specialists of the EROS Center.
