"RICARDO CAILLET-BOIS" HISTORY PRIZE

Call for nominations

The Commission on History of the PAIGH calls upon historians from the Americas to compete in the contest for the "Ricardo Caillet-Bois History Prize" that is awarded every four years at the Meeting of Consultation of History.

General rules

For the participants:

  1. All citizens of Member States of the PAIGH may participate.

For the works:

  1. They must be works that meet with the required methodologies of historical research and constitute a significant contribution to that discipline.

  2. The subject must deal with the history of the Americas.

  3. The works must be unpublished and can be a thesis and dissertation to obtain a Master's or Doctoral degree.

  4. The works must not be less than 30 pages letter size, typed/word processed double spaced, and no longer than 300 pages.

  5. The works may be submitted in any of the four official languages of the Institute (Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese).

How to submit the works and the deadline for submission:

  1. The works must be submitted directly or sent by certified mail to the Commission on History of the PAIGH.

The works must be sent in original and four copies.

  1. The works must be submitted under a pseudonym. The author must deliver or send by certified mail, in an envelope under separate cover, the necessary information for his/her identification, indicating full name, address, and telephone, as well as the pseudonym used. This envelope must be sent to the Commission on History, mentioning the contest.

On the Panel of Judges

  1. The Panel of Judges will consist of the following: the President of the Commission on History who will preside over it, and two delegates to the Meeting of Consultation from countries that have not presented candidates for the prize, elected during the First Plenary Session of the Meeting. In the event that there is a nomination from the host country of the Commission, in that case three delegates shall be elected and the eldest will preside.

On the prize:

  1. The prize that is awarded in accordance with the decision of the Panel of Judges will consist of:

a) Publication of the complete work at the expense of the PAIGH.
b) A diploma and medal.
