PAN AMERICAN GEOPHYSICS MEDAL

This prize was established by Resolution No. 4 adopted at the VII Meeting of Consultation on Geophysics that took place in San José, Costa Rica, November 1993.

The award consists of a medal and diploma that will be presented during the Meetings of Consultation, to a researcher or institution that has made an outstanding contribution to the science of Geophysics in the Americas.

Bases:

  • To have an outstanding scientific publication record (publications in peer-reviewed journals at the national or international level)
  • Involvement in the preparation of human resources
  • Technological innovation in the instrumentation, methodological analysis, generation and implementation of networks or data bases
  • Diffusion of geophysical knowledge

The Panel of Judges shall consist of: the President of the Commission on Geophysics of the PAIGH and two delegates to the Meeting of Consultation from countries that have not submitted candidates for the award, elected during the First Plenary Session of the Meeting. In the event that there is a nomination from the host country of the Commission, a third delegate will be elected and the eldest among them shall preside.

The nominations must be submitted by the respective National Sections and be accompanied by the documentation that supports the merits of the respective researcher or institution.
