"SILVIO ZAVALA" COLONIAL HISTORY OF AMERICA PRIZE

BASES

  • The works must be published on the colonial history of America, and published for the first time in one of the Member States of the PAIGH during the years 2004 & 2005 (re-editions, re-publications, or volumes of criticisms of other works are not accepted)
  • They must constitute a contribution to the historical knowledge of America.
  • They must include a critical documentary and bibliographic apparatus.
  • They must be published in one of the four official languages of the PAIGH (Spanish, English, French, Portuguese).
  • Authors, sponsoring institutions or editorial houses may present the works.
  • The deadline for the receipt of the works is 30 November, 2005.
  • Five (5) copies of the works must be sent, together with a CV and the postal address of the author (including telephone, fax and e-mail).
  • All works must be sent by certified mail or deposited in the offices of the General Secretariat of the PAIGH (Ex Arzobispado No. 29, Colonia Observatorio, C.P. 11860 México, D.F.) within the time limit indicated.
  • The adjudicating jury will be composed of three outstanding historians designated by the History Commission of the PAIGH.
  • The prize is worth US$2,000 (two thousand US dollars), diffusion of the work via PAIGH's channels, and a diploma of recognition.
  • The presentation and award of the winning work will be held on the day of the anniversary of the PAIGH (February, 2006).
  • All who aspire to the prize, by so doing promise to accept the present bases of the competition.
