Preparations for the 26th<\/sup><\/strong> General Assembly of the PAIGH in Honduras<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Eng. Leidy Yolany Ulloa Colindres, President of the National Section of Honduras and Director of Cartography and Geography at the Institute for Property, held a meeting with MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute for Geography and History (PAIGH), to coordinate preparations for the 26th<\/sup> General Assembly of the PAIGH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event shall take place in October 2025 in Honduras, in fulfilment of that approved during the 24th<\/sup> General Assembly held in the Dominican Republic in 2023. In addition to the General Assembly, the 104 th<\/sup> Meeting of PAIGH Authorities and the Consultation Meetings of the PAIGH Commissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting made it possible to make progress in the aspects of logistics and organization, reaffirming the commitment of both parties to ensuring the success of this important statutory meeting of this entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launch of the training project for adverse climate events <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) was present at the launch of the project \u201cStrengthening of capabilities for research and action on adverse climate events: Training series of the Research Network for Climate Change of the Americas (RICCA)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, participated in remote mode at this major event, at which he stated his recognition of the work team that has made this initiative possible. He emphasized that the project represents a valuable effort for strengthening capabilities for research and action before the challenges involving the climate that this region faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative started in 2017 thanks to the finance provided by the PAIGH as part of its Technical Assistance Program (PAT), which reflects the commitment of this international organization to the development of solutions based on scientific knowledge and international cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Campuzano underlined the fact that this type of project not only supports and encourages academic exchanges between researchers, it also reaffirms the commitment to strengthening synergies, to raising awareness of the issue and the dissemination of knowledge for the generations to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation of the PAIGH in the 56th<\/sup> Extraordinary Series of Sessions of the OAS<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales travelled to Washington, D.C., United States of America, in order to attend the fifty-sixth period of sessions, extra-ordinary in nature, of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presence of MA. Campuzano at this event represents a significant act for the PAIGH, as it reaffirms the historic link that exists between these two institutions. Since 1949, the PAIGH has been recognized as the first specialized organization of the OAS, from one year after the creation of this organization. This recognition was made official through an agreement that was subsequently updated and signed in Washington, D.C., on May 6th<\/sup>, 1974.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PAIGH has performed a fundamental role in strengthening scientific knowledge in the Pan American region. Its work has clearly been enriched thanks to the collaboration with outstanding researchers, scientists and authorities of the Member States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the PAIGH maintains close relations with multiple international organizations, with which it supports and encourages initiatives that favor the exchange of knowledge and the strengthening of technical capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the context of his business travel to Washington, D.C., United States of America, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) held a meeting with Ambassador Luz Elena Ba\u00f1os Rivas, Permanent Representative of the United Mexican States before the Organization of American States (OAS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This meeting took place during the fifty-sixth extraordinary series of sessions of the OAS General Assembly, at which the PAIGH participated as part of its commitment with the strengthening of regional cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, MA. Antonio Campuzano thanked Ambassador Luz Elena Ba\u00f1os for the support that has been given permanently to the PAIGH, emphasizing the fact that this has been important for technical and scientific development that benefits the Pan American community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), attended the ceremony commemorating the 148th<\/sup><\/sup> <\/strong>Anniversary of the creation of the National Meteorological Service of Mexico (SMN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event took place in the architectural complex of the Ex-Archbishopric Palace, which houses both the SMN and the PAIGH, located in Tacubaya, Mexico City. MA. Campuzano was invited to be part of the speakers panel by MSc. Fabi\u00e1n V\u00e1zquez Roma\u00f1a, Coordinator General of the National Meteorological Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the ceremony, MSc. V\u00e1zquez Roma\u00f1a highlighted the commitment of the SMN with meteorological monitoring and the prevention of natural hazards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the event, MA. Campuzano accompanied the head of the SMN at the cutting of the inaugural ribbon for the exhibition of paintings and photographs of Mexican artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, a tour around the premises of the Ex-Archbishopric complex was made; this included a visit to the General Secretariat of the PAIGH. The group of participants had the opportunity to see at first hand the spaces that are most representative of the Palace building headquarters of the PAIGH, such as the Historic Archive, the library of journals and magazines and the Gallery of Historians and Geographers of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of his participation, MA. Campuzano congratulated the working team of the SMN and stated his best wishes for success to MSc. Fabi\u00e1n V\u00e1zquez Roma\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
