Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, became the meeting point for knowledge, scientific diplomacy, and Pan American cooperation. During an intensive work week, the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) held three highly significant events: the 104th<\/sup> Meeting of Authorities, the Consultation Meetings of the Commissions, and the 26th<\/sup> General Assembly.

The 104th<\/sup> Meeting of PAIGH Authorities took place on October 13, serving as a forum for institutional analysis and planning. Attendees included the President, Dr. Patricia Sol\u00eds; the Vice President, BA. Pahola M\u00e9ndez; the Secretary General, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales; and the Presidents of the Commissions on Cartography, Geography, History, and Geophysics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this session, reports, scientific projects, and administrative proposals were reviewed, which served as the basis for the General Assembly’s decisions. This meeting allowed for the refinement of strategies and the strengthening of the shared vision for technical and scientific cooperation among the countries of the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Activities continued on October 13 and 14 with the Consultation Meetings of the Commissions, where experts and representatives from the Member States shared research progress, analyzed scientific policies, and reviewed their work programs for the next period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each commission convened independently to discuss key topics such as the renewal of their authorities, the definition of scientific priorities, and the promotion of interdisciplinary projects. These spaces for dialogue strengthened Pan American collaboration for the benefit of the region’s scientific and technical development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the 26th<\/sup> PAIGH General Assembly was held from October 15 to 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this meeting, the Committees on Scientific, Administrative, and Financial Policy and the Coordinating Committee for Resolutions were installed. They worked together to evaluate and draft the resolutions that were submitted for consideration by the Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These resolutions, resulting from technical analysis and consensus among the Member States, represent the PAIGH’s commitment to institutional strengthening and Pan American scientific advancement for 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the framework of the Assembly, the election of the Institute’s new authorities for the 2026\u20132029 term also took place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following were elected: MSc. Max Alberto Lobo Hern\u00e1ndez as President; Dr. Deirdre Dalpiaz Bishop as Vice President; and MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, who was re-elected as Secretary General.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting concluded with the presentation of the 2025 Commission Awards, recognizing academic and scientific excellence in the areas of Cartography, Geography, History, and Geophysics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pan American Institute of Geography and History expresses its sincerest gratitude to the Government and people of Honduras for their warm hospitality and support in hosting these events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three meetings, one same purpose: to strengthen Pan American cooperation, promote scientific knowledge, and keep alive the commitment to put science at the service of peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
