The PAIGH participates in the presentation of the international phase of Plan Mexico<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the official presentation of the international phase of Plan Mexico, held on April 30, the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) was represented by its Secretary General, Antonio Campuzano Rosales, who attended as part of the invited diplomatic corps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was led by Dr. Juan Ram\u00f3n de la Fuente, Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and by the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard Casaub\u00f3n. The ceremony was attended by ambassadors, consuls, and representatives of international organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his speech, Foreign Minister De la Fuente called on Mexican diplomatic representatives to take an active role in promoting Mexico’s capabilities, strategic advantages, and opportunities on the current international stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plan Mexico is presented as a platform for strengthening international and institutional collaboration. The PAIGH’s participation in this event reaffirms its commitment as an organization specializing in geography, history, and related sciences, and its contribution to scientific knowledge in the service of peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), paid a working visit to the PAIGH National Section in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the offices of the Ministry of Public Education, he was received by Graciela B\u00e1ez Ric\u00e1rdez, Director General of Educational Policy, Best Practices, and Cooperation at that agency and President of the PAIGH National Section in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This meeting took place within the framework of Guiding Principle IV of the 2022\u20132025 Strategic Modernization Plan, which aims to maintain a close and collaborative relationship between the PAIGH and its National Sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, both authorities agreed on the importance of consolidating a joint agenda that promotes scientific research and institutional strengthening. Mr. Campuzano also extended a cordial invitation to Ms. B\u00e1ez to visit the PAIGH Headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This visit not only strengthens the bond between the PAIGH and its National Sections, but also reaffirms the historic collaboration between the Institute and its host country, Mexico, since 1928.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IPGH and UGI begin work toward signing a Memorandum of Understanding<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), held a virtual meeting with Dr. Patricia Sol\u00eds, President of the Institute, and Dr. Rub\u00e9n C. Lois Gonz\u00e1lez, President of the International Geographical Union (IGU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of this meeting was to begin preparatory work for the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two international organizations. This collaboration aims to establish a solid foundation for the development of joint actions in the fields of geography, research, and scientific cooperation on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their interest in consolidating a common agenda that promotes the development of collaborative research, as well as the institutional strengthening of both entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Palace building of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) received MA. Carlos Imanol Belausteguigoitia Reyes as a distinguished visitor; he is the head of the General Office for Central America and the Caribbean of the Secretariat of the Foreign Relations of Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, gave a warm welcome to the Mexican public servant and accompanied him on a tour around the spaces that are most representative of the General Secretariat, among them the Hemeroteca \u201cH\u00e9ctor Oscar Jos\u00e9 Pena\u201d library of journals, the \u201cEng. Pedro Celestino S\u00e1nchez\u201d Historic Archive, the Wall of Female Authorities, the Gallery of Historians and Geographers of America and the \u201cManuel Orozco y Berra\u201d map library; this last item stores the valuable cartographic stock of the Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, with its protocol aspects, took place in the \u201cWilliam Bowie\u201d Hall, where the staff of the General Secretariat greeted the visitor. Subsequently, MA. Campuzano presented a report about the tasks performed by the General Secretariat during the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the context of this visit, MA. Belausteguigoitia signed the Book of Distinguished Visitors, in which he wrote: \u201cIt is a great pleasure to visit the palace of the PAIGH, a treasure of the history of Mexico and of the Americas\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As proof of the appreciation, he was gifted with a desktop flag of the PAIGH, a commemorative pin and a sample of the scientific bibliographic production of the Institute. Finally, the official photograph was taken of the two public servants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This meeting reaffirms the links between the PAIGH General Secretariat and the country hosting it, in fulfilment of V Central Guiding Concept of the 2022-2025 Strategic Modernization Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presentation of the Annual Report of 2024 from the PAIGH to the Permanent Council of the OAS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), participated in virtual mode in the session of the Permanent Council of the General Commission of the Organization of American States (OAS), with the purpose of submitting the annual report on activities corresponding to the year 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his speech, MA. Campuzano highlighted the sustained and progressive increase in the number of grants conceded and\/or processed by the PAIGH, also the efficient financial management of this specialized organization. At the same time, he underlined the historic relevance of the fact that the written agreement for the creation of the PAIGH is now kept in the storage facilities of the Columbus Memorial Library of the OAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the presentation, the representatives of the delegations to the OAS made their comments on the report. Ambassador Luz Elena Ba\u00f1os Rivas, representative of Mexico, congratulated the Secretary General for the achievements reached during the period of his management. At the same time, the delegations of the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and El Salvador all stated, in the same way, that the work of the PAIGH has turned out to be fundamental for scientific development in the Pan American region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participation of the PAIGH in international forums such as the Permanent Council of the OAS is within the framework of fulfilling the IV Central Guiding Concept of the 2022-2025 Strategic Modernization Plan, which guides the actions of the current administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fulfilment of the I Central Guiding Concept in the 2022-2025 Strategic Modernization Plan of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of this international organization, participated in remote mode at the Annual Meeting of the PAIGH National Section in the United States of America, held on the days April 8th<\/sup> and 9th<\/sup>, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session was presided over by Dr. Deirdre Dalpiaz Bishop, President of the National Section, and among those present was Julianna Aynes-Neville, of the State Department, also the presidents of the Commissions at National level: Eric van Praag (Cartography), David Salisbury (Geography), Erick Langer (History) and Lidia L\u00f3pez (Geophysics).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, MA. Campuzano presented his report on activities, highlighting among the main achievements the increase in the number of grants processed and\/or financed by the PAIGH during last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, Mr. Norberto Garc\u00eda, responsible for the Department of Technical Assistance of the General Secretariat, described the current status of the Technical Assistance Program (PAT) and provided detailed information about the Call for Proposals for the PAT 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BA. Claudia Ulloa, of the Department of Statutory Meetings of the PAIGH, contributed as interpreter during the session, so thanks are given for her valuable support. The PAIGH also extends its recognition to the National Section of the United States of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visit of MSc. Christian N\u00fa\u00f1ez Sol\u00eds to the Palace building headquarters of the PAIGH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) was pleased to receive the visit of MSc. Christian N\u00fa\u00f1ez Sol\u00eds, Vice-President of the Cartography Commission of the Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accompanied by the Secretary General of the PAIGH, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, they toured the courtyards and passageways of the historic building, formerly of the Archbishopric of Tacubaya, headquarters of this specialized entity of the OAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his visit, MSc. N\u00fa\u00f1ez signed the Book of Distinguished Visitors, where he recorded the impression he received with the following words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor me as a geographer, it has been a dream come true getting to know what has been, for almost 100 years, a supporting base for our profession, for our American land and for building up men and women.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We appreciate his heartfelt words and his presence in the PAIGH, which were stated in the context of his stay in Mexico together with his family. Visits such as these strengthen the links that bring us together as the Pan American scientific community and reaffirm our shared commitment for: \u00a0science in the service of peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
