Fourth Academic Conferences of the American Congress of Freedom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Fourth Academic Conferences of the American Congress of Freedom were held in Panama City, Panama, dedicated to the theme \u201cSim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar and the significance of the Amphictyonic Congress of Panama.\u201d The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama and the National Academy of History of Ecuador and took place in the Gran Sal\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Carlos A. Hoyos, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama; Dr. Franklin Barriga L\u00f3pez, Director Emeritus of the National Academy of History of Ecuador; Dr. Carlos Guevara Mann, President of the Bolivarian Society and Deputy Minister of Multilateral Affairs and Cooperation of Panama; MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH); and H.E. Mar\u00eda Eugenia Herrera, Minister of Culture of Panama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The works presented in this edition focused on the figure of Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar, the Liberator, and the efforts of the countries that formed part of the Amphictyonic Congress, with the participation of twenty historians representing PAIGH member countries, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visit to the National Section of the PAIGH in Panama<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, visited the facilities of the National Section of the PAIGH in Panama, located at the \u201cTommy Guardia\u201d National Geographic Institute. He was received by Eng. Lenin Guizado, Director of the Institute and President of the National Section of the PAIGH in Panama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of the visit was to promote scientific and technical development in areas of interest to the PAIGH in its Member States, through support for the National Sections, in line with the objectives of the PAIGH Strategic Modernization Plan 2022\u20132025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, strategies were discussed to increase Panama’s participation in Technical Assistance and Publications Programs, scholarships, and calls for awards in the Institute’s four areas of scientific development: Cartography, Geography, History, and Geophysics, as well as in related disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discussion on the fight against illicit trafficking in cultural property<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Palace headquarters of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) hosted a discussion entitled \u201cThe fight against illicit trafficking in cultural property: the experience of Peru and Mexico,\u201d<\/em> organized by the Embassy of Peru in Mexico in coordination with the PAIGH. The event was attended by Claudia Bastante, Counselor at the Embassy of Peru in Mexico, who presented the Peruvian case, and Dr. Baltazar Brito Guadarrama, Director of the National Library of Anthropology and History, who presented the Mexican experience. The discussion was moderated by Yesica Fonseca, Minister Counselor at the Embassy of Peru in Mexico. The discussion took place with both in-person and virtual attendance, in an atmosphere of cordiality and broad interest on the part of the audience, both at the \u201cH\u00e9ctor Oscar Jos\u00e9 Pena\u201d Newspaper Library and through the Peruvian representation’s social media broadcast. With this type of academic activity, the PAIGH reaffirms its collaboration and support for its Member States.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

From July 8 to 10, 2025, the 103rd Meeting of Authorities of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) was held in Mexico City. These meetings are held twice a year to review scientific, financial, and administrative areas, as well as to coordinate, supervise, analyze, and approve the organization’s Technical Assistance and Publications programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seven PAIGH authorities attended this statutory meeting: Dr. Patricia Sol\u00eds, President (United States of America); BA. Pahola M\u00e9ndez Mata, Vice President (Guatemala); MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General (Mexico); MSc. Max Alberto Lobo Hern\u00e1ndez, President of the Cartography Commission (Costa Rica); Dr. Hermann Manr\u00edquez Tirado, President of the Geography Commission (Chile); Dr. Filiberto Cruz S\u00e1nchez, President of the History Commission (Dominican Republic); and Dr. Mario Calixto Ruiz Romero, President of the Geophysics Commission (Ecuador).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Patricia Sol\u00eds formally opened the meeting on July 8. Over the following days, the topics contained in the resolutions for the 26th General Assembly of the PAIGH, scheduled for October 2025 in Honduras, a Member State of the Institute, were addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, PAIGH Secretary General MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales presented the Minister with a compilation of opinions and comments sent by the Institute’s National Sections regarding the virtual session \u201cIntroduction to the National Atlas of Korea Project,\u201d<\/em> organized on June 19 by the National Geographic Information Institute (NGII) of Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Secretary General congratulated Minister Yong Koo Kang on the success of this initiative and reaffirmed the PAIGH’s support for the dissemination of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), held a virtual meeting with Mrs. Leidy Ulloa, President of the PAIGH National Section in Honduras, and Mr. Horacio Ezequiel Padilla, Geography Coordinator for the General Directorate of Cartography and Geography of the Property Institute of that country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, they continued with the logistical and technical organization of the 26th General Assembly of the PAIGH, scheduled to be held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in October 2025. The Secretary General reiterated the General Secretariat’s support for the National Section of Honduras, highlighting the importance of ongoing collaboration between the Institute’s authorities and its Member States, in accordance with the PAIGH Strategic Modernization Plan 2022\u20132025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
