Pan-American Congress on the Teaching of History<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pan-American Congress on History Education is scheduled to offer a rich program of presentations by specialists in the field on Thursdays in August.

The virtual event, organized by the PAIGH History Commission, headed by Dr. Filiberto Cruz S\u00e1nchez and Dr. Reina Rosario, Vice President of the Commission, features the participation of historians and audiences from various Pan American countries.

The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of PAIGH authorities, as well as attendees who showed interest in the presentations by history specialists.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Donation of the National Flag of the Republic of Honduras to the PAIGH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the PAIGH headquarters, we received a kind visit from Mr. Dimas Alexi Escobar Guill\u00e9n, Minister Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires; Dennis Miguel McCoy Dub\u00f3n, First Secretary; and Dr. Berthaly Bueso Serrano, First Secretary, from the Embassy of the Republic of Honduras in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this occasion, the reason for the visit was the donation of the National Flag of the Republic of Honduras to the Pan American Institute of Geography and History. It is worth noting the importance of receiving the national flag, as it bears the official colors, as established by the decree issued by the National Congress of that sister country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Campuzano expressed his joy and commitment upon receiving the national symbol of this PAIGH Member State, and thanked them for their trust in entrusting him with the safekeeping of their flag, which has now been added to the other symbols representing the Member and Observer Countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening of the exhibition \u201cThe Legacy of Carlos M\u00e9rida\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, was invited by the Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala in Mexico, Mr. Mario Adolfo B\u00facaro Flores, and his distinguished wife, Mrs. Gabriela Roda, to a tribute dedicated to Guatemalan painter and sculptor Carlos M\u00e9rida. As part of the 40th<\/sup> anniversary of Maestro M\u00e9rida’s death, an interesting exhibition of the late artist’s works was inaugurated. Maestro M\u00e9rida (1891-1984) was part of the Mexican muralist movement, but from an abstract and geometric perspective, unlike the narrative and figurative style of the great masters of that movement. His creative life unfolded between Guatemala and Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, participated in the Board of Directors of the Regional Committee, of which he is a member, representing the PAIGH, in addition to providing continuity and strengthening related issues with specialized international organizations and institutions. The objective is precisely to seek a space for interaction so that Member States can present and discuss the extent to which geospatial data and information support or are useful for high-level decision-making and the formulation of public policies on geospatial issues.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

From August 7 to 9, 2024, the Secretary General of the PAIGH participated in four items on the agenda of the 14th Session of the Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), held at the United Nations headquarters in New York (United States of America).
