MA Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of this institution, held a coordination meeting with the Chairpersons of the Cartography, Geography and Geophysics Commissions to discuss issues of common interest, such as the SIRGAS and UN-GGIM: Americas initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IPGH headquarters palace received a visit from Juan Pablo Guti\u00e9rrez and Israel Salazar, officials from the Miguel Hidalgo Mayor’s Office in Mexico City.

As part of the visit agenda, Mr. Antonio Campuzano gave a presentation on the activities carried out by this scientific-technical organisation and highlighted the importance of forging links with local authorities.

As a result of this meeting, a collaborative working group between the two entities will be established in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A coordination meeting was held with the President of the Dominican Republic National Section, Mr Bol\u00edvar Troncoso, and his team, in preparation for the upcoming statutory meetings of the PAIGH to be held in the second half of this year in Santo Domingo. Of particular note is the 24th<\/sup> General Assembly, which will bring together the authorities and representatives of the Member States of this international organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In accordance with Guiding Principle IV of the \u2018PAIGH Strategic Modernisation Plan 2022-2025\u2019, a collaboration agreement was signed between the PAIGH and the Baja California History Seminar, thereby reaffirming the institution’s presence on the north-eastern border of Mexico and south-eastern United States.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Secretary General of the PAIGH, Antonio Campuzano Rosales, presented a commemorative plaque to Eduardo de la Vega, President of the Baja California History Seminar (Mexico), in recognition of his work as a guardian of the historical memory of the Baja California region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Antonio Campuzano Rosales held a meeting with Major Edwin Pardo Uriarte, Head of the Geographical Engineering Course at the Bolivian Military Engineering School. The aim of the meeting was to agree on future academic collaboration agreements, particularly in relation to the submission of articles for the PAIGH’s scientific journals.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dissemination of the work of the PAIGH in Baja California<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

During his visit to Baja California (Mexico), the Secretary General of the PAIGH explained the work of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History on two local radio stations, to raise awareness among students and researchers interested in the activities of this international organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At both events, he was accompanied by historian Horacio Gonz\u00e1lez, from the Baja California History Seminar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of the 217th<\/sup> anniversary of the birth of Don Benito Ju\u00e1rez Garc\u00eda, \u2018Benem\u00e9rito de las Am\u00e9ricas\u2019 (Distinguished Man of the Americas), the Secretary General of the PAIGH donated to the artistic heritage of this institution an original printed engraving entitled \u2018El Pensamiento de Ju\u00e1rez\u2019 (The Thought of Ju\u00e1rez), created by the artist Leopoldo M\u00e9ndez in 1972, the year of Ju\u00e1rez.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The PAIGH and CentroGeo: an alliance for scientific development<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the aim of strengthening the long-standing ties of cooperation and friendship between the PAIGH and CentroGeo, a meeting was held at the latter’s facilities in Mexico City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of this specialised agency, met with Dr. Pablo L\u00f3pez Ram\u00edrez, Director General of the Centre. It should be noted that the Centre’s mission focuses on research, technological development, knowledge transfer and a wide range of educational opportunities through postgraduate courses, thus contributing to the development of science and technology for the benefit of society. For this reason, areas of opportunity for collaboration between the two institutions are being sought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This distinction recognises the commendable work that the Centre has carried out for the benefit of the Pan-American community in areas that contribute to the development of geospatial science and technology.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The IPGH headquarters received a visit from Rub\u00e9n Ruiz Guerra, Director of the Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean (CIALC, UNAM), and Dr Eleonora Elizabeth Rembis Rubio, President of the National Academy of History and Geography (ANHG) of Mexico.

This meeting was part of the preparations for the upcoming American Congress on Freedom, which will take place in May and will feature the participation of prominent historians from across the continent.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The 2023 meeting of the National Section of the PAIGH in the United States of America was held virtually. The meeting was led by Mrs. Deirdre Dalpiaz Bishop, President of the PAIGH, Patricia Sol\u00eds, and was attended by the Secretary General of the PAIGH, Mr. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, who participated with a report on the activities carried out during the last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IPGH headquarters had the honour of receiving a welcome visit from Ambassador Fl\u00e1vio R. Bonzanini, Secretary General of OPANAL, together with his team of collaborators.

During the meeting with Antonio Campuzano Rosales, institutional experiences were shared, creating synergies to achieve the noble goals of both organisations: \u2018Science in the Service of Peace\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
