Towards to the 24th<\/sup> General Assembly<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, met with Mr. Bol\u00edvar Troncoso Morales, President of the PAIGH National Section in the Dominican Republic, to review the logistical progress of the 24th General Assembly and related meetings. This important event will include the 100th Meeting of Authorities, the 5th Technical Meeting of Commissions, and the Dominican Congress of Geographical Sciences, organized by the National Geographic Institute \u201cJos\u00e9 Joaqu\u00edn Hungr\u00eda Morell.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants emphasized their commitment to ensuring the success of these meetings, which aim to strengthen collaboration among Member States and ensure efficient logistical planning for the scheduled activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History, met virtually with Dr. Patricia Solis, President of the PAIGH, to continue with the preparations for the 24th<\/sup> General Assembly and related meetings, which took place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from October 30 to November 4, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both authorities expressed their commitment to working together with the National Section of that country. Dr. Solis expressed her support for extending invitations to other Caribbean countries and predicted the success of the Institute’s statutory meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting between PAIGH and Esri to Strengthen Collaboration in Training and Technological Tools<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the collaboration framework between Esri and the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of PAIGH; Hermann Manr\u00edquez, President of the Geography Commission; and Eric van Praag, Senior Project Manager at Esri, participated in a virtual meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to explore new opportunities for collaboration, especially in the areas of training and access to advanced technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conversation focused on the benefits of tools such as software licensing, ArcGIS Online, StoryMaps, and training programs. This support would allow students to access real-world practices that facilitate their training and encourage the use of best practices. The meetings between the two institutions are notable for generating creative ideas that benefit the academic and professional community in geography and related sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the \u201cAtlas of Climate Change in the Americas (ACCA)\u201d project, Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), held a virtual meeting with the scientists responsible for this important project. Among those in attendance were prominent researchers such as Dr. Patricia Snaider, David Salisbury, Dr. Fernando L\u00f3pez, Dr. Oscar Pyszczek, Dr. Rigaud Sanabria, Dr. Nancy Aguirre, Dr. Daniel Lipp, and Dr. David Vel\u00e1zquez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MA. Campuzano acknowledged the importance of these researchers’ contributions to the development of the ACCA and expressed his interest in disseminating and continuing the project. He also offered the PAIGH Technical Assistance Program for next year as a support tool and encouraged the scientists to continue their efforts in the medium and long term, with the aim of increasing the impact of their research through the PAIGH’s communication channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Civil Protection of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History participated in the \u2018Second National Drill 2023,\u2019 which aimed to prepare its staff to follow the evacuation protocol for the headquarters building within the time frame recommended by government authorities.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony marking the 201st<\/sup> anniversary of Brazil’s independence was attended by Mr Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), and Mr. Efra\u00edn Guadarrama, Director General of American Regional Organisations and Mechanisms of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the rest of the Diplomatic Corps. The commemorative ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Mr. Fernando Coimbra, Ambassador of Brazil to Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Atlas of Climate Change in the Americas (ACCA) project, the Secretary-General of this Institute organised a virtual meeting with leading representatives from various institutions involved in this work: Dr Fernando L\u00f3pez, Director of the Geographic Institute of Aragon (IGEAR); Dr Patricia Snaider, from the Complutense University of Madrid; and Geographer \u00c1lvaro Monett, together with Mr Horacio Castellanos, both from the Statistics Division of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). \u00c1lvaro Monett, together with Mr Horacio Castellanos, both from the Statistics Division of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
