Within the framework of the 24th General Assembly of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History, the 100th Meeting of Authorities and the 5th Joint Technical Meeting of the Commissions were inaugurated. During the formal event, the hosts warmly welcomed the PAIGH authorities, colleagues, scientists, and executives from the Americas.
Representing the Government of the Dominican Republic, the ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Minister of Economic and Social Analysis, Dr. Alexis Cruz; Thematic Ambassador of the Deputy Minister of Multilateral Foreign Policy Affairs, Ambassador Néstor Cerón; and Mr. Bolívar Troncoso Morales, President of the National Section of the PAIGH in this country and Director of the National Geographic Institute “José Joaquín Hungría Morell.” Néstor Cerón; and Mr. Bolívar Troncoso Morales, President of the National Section of the PAIGH in this country and Director of the National Geographic Institute “José Joaquín Hungría Morell.”
The authorities reviewed their partial reports and once again supervised the Financial Report and Audit Report for the year 2022. They also reviewed for the last time the projects presented within the Technical Assistance Program, as well as the final draft of the Resolutions to be presented to the General Assembly. Furthermore, the final modifications were made to the Regulations, which are being aligned with the new Organic Statute authorized in 2021.
During this meeting, certificates were also presented accrediting the authorities in their current positions within this international organization. In addition, the Secretary General received a plaque of recognition for the Institute from the President of the Dominican Republic National Section.
