Comissions

The Commissions of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History are the bodies in charge of preparing and executing the scientific and technical programs of the PAIGH approved by the General Assembly. They also promote and coordinate the scientific and technical development of their respective fields of action in the Member Countries.

The Commissions have their headquarters in the country of election of their Officers and are subdivided into Committees and Working Groups. They meet ordinarily every two years.

Commissions are:

Created in accordance with Resolution X adopted at the III General Assembly, held in Lima, Peru, in April 1941.

Established in accordance with Resolution IV of the IV General Assembly, held in Caracas, Venezuela, in August 1946.

Conceived in accordance with Resolution XXVII adopted at the IV General Assembly, held in Caracas, Venezuela, in August 1946.

Created in accordance with Resolution I adopted at the IX General Assembly, held in Washington, D.C., United States, in June 1969.
