Remote participation in presentation on the management of geographic names
In the context of the 87th Anniversary Day of the Cartographic Service in Mexico, on January the 29th, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales attended, via remote media, the presentation of MSc. Christian Núñez Solís, Vice-President of the PAIGH Cartography Commission.
The presentation, titled “Management of geographic names and their links to the spatial data infrastructure of Costa Rica”, was presented in virtual mode to staff of the Cartographic Service of the National Defense Secretariat of Mexico. In this, MSc. Núñez talked about some of the success cases of the government of Costa Rica in the handling of geographic naming systems of this PAIGH Member State.
This event, organized by the General Management of Cartography of the National Defense Secretariat of the Government of Mexico, reflects the close links that the PAIGH maintains with the institutions of the country hosting the headquarters of this international organization and strengthens the creation and dissemination of scientific knowledge in the Pan American region.

Visit of MA. Antonio Campuzano to the CIESAS
MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), was invited to visit the Center for Research and Higher Education in Social Anthropology (CIESAS) in Tlalpan, Mexico City.
During the visit, MA. Campuzano was received by Dr. Antonio Escobar Ohmstede, coordinator of the Special Program in Geographic Information Systems, in Social Sciences and Humanities (PRoSIG), together with his team of contributors. MA. Campuzano was informed about the various academic projects and the public dissemination and publications that the PRoSIG puts into effect, also the site and facilities of this academic entity, with the objective of getting to know the tasks performed at this institution.
Dr. Escobar emphasized the importance of building links with the PAIGH, pointing out that the institution represents spaces at regional, national and continental levels where its research has been focused.
During the same activity, MA. Campuzano was also received by Dr. Carlos Macías Richard, Director General of the CIESAS. During the meeting, the interest of both organizations in establishing links for cooperation was discussed, with the purpose of strengthening work performed jointly.
This visit makes clear the commitment of the PAIGH in supporting and encouraging cooperation and widening the regional scope of its actions, in accordance with the objectives of the 2022-2025 Strategic Modernization Plan of the PAIGH.

Participation of the Secretary General in the 87th Anniversary of the Day of the Cartographic Service in Mexico
On the occasion of the 87th Anniversary of the of the Day of the Cartographic Service in Mexico, January the 27th, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, participated with the presentation titled “What is the Pan American Institute of Geography and History?”.
MA. Campuzano was received by Brigade General of the Army Staff, Andrés Ramírez Xochicali, head of the General Management of Cartography of the National Defense Secretariat of the Government of Mexico.
During the conference, intended for generals, heads of areas and departments, officials and staff of the Cartographic Service National Defense Secretariat, the Secretary General presented the history of the PAIGH, its functions and its future projects. Moreover, he explained the key aspects of the 2022-2025 Strategic Modernization Plan of the PAIGH, developed during his period of management.
In the context of this event, General Ramírez Xochicali offered MA. Campuzano a tour of the premises of the General Management of Cartography, making it possible to see, at first hand, the fundamental tasks that this institution performs.
This visit reaffirms the commitment of the PAIGH to strengthening links with institutions that are key to the cartographic sphere, encouraging future cooperation for the Benefit of the Pan American community.

Visit of academics of the UNAM to the PAIGH

The Palace building headquarters of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) received the visit of MA. Rubén Ruiz Guerra, of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and of Dr. Rebeca López Mora, Dr. Sofía Crespo Reyes and Dr. Paulina Pezzat Sánchez, academics of the Degree course in History at the Acatlán Faculty of Further Education of the UNAM.
MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Verónica Ireta Badillo, welcomed them and invited them to see the premises of the Institute and its history by means of a tour, in addition to presenting them with the scientific work that is carried out at this specialized organization.
During the presentation in the “Dr. William Bowie” hall, those invited there emphasized the historic importance of the PAIGH and its impact on the academic community. At the same time, they highlighted the relevance of establishing formal agreements for cooperation with public and private institutions, as these alliances strengthen academic and scientific links, encouraging the creation and dissemination of knowledge.
As part of the protocol and activities, the visitors signed the Book of Distinguished Visitors. Subsequently, MA. Antonio Campuzano gifted them publications of PAIGH that reflect the work performed by this institution.
The PAIGH reaffirms its commitment to strengthening links with academic institutions and organizations that share its mission to serve science and peace, contributing to the progress of the region by means of interdisciplinary cooperation.

Visit of the Director General of Cartography of the National Defense to the PAIGH

The Palace building headquarters of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) received the visit of Brigade General of the Army Staff, Andrés Ramírez Xochicali, Director General of Cartography of the National Defense Secretariat (Defense), accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel and Photogrammetrist Agripino Carmona Cruz and members of his work team.
As part of the protocol and program, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, presented the report on activities corresponding to 2024, previously submitted at the 25th General Assembly of this organization, held in November, in Santiago, Chile. In his speech, he highlighted the achievements of this institution and progress made in the 2022-2025 Strategic Modernization Plan.
This meeting made it possible to make the links between these two institutions closer, in addition to emphasizing issues of common interest and also the work on initiatives that contribute to strengthening technical, operational and scientific capabilities for benefiting the whole of the Pan American community.
At the close of the event, MA. Antonio Campuzano provided to Gen. Andrés Ramírez Xochicali and those with him a set of bibliographic works published by the PAIGH. This gesture symbolizes the commitment of this institution with the support and encouragement of knowledge and with its contribution to scientific-technical development.

Visit of the Ambassador of Guatemala in Mexico to the PAIGH
MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), received in the “Dr. William Bowie” hall his Excellency, the Ambassador of Guatemala in Mexico, Edgar Armando Gutiérrez Girón, also Mr. Ángel Chan, Counselor of the ambassador.
During the meeting, MA. Campuzano explained to the distinguished guests the mission and the relevance of the PAIGH in the Pan American scientific sphere. At the same time, an invitation was extended to the scientific community of Guatemala to participate in the opportunities that the Institute offers, such as grants, finance for projects and the publication of articles in its six academic journals.
Ambassador Gutiérrez Girón expressed his appreciation for the reception given and emphasized the role of the PAIGH in strengthening science in the region. In the Book of Distinguished Visitors, he wrote: “I am proud of my country for actively participating in this select community.”
At the end of the visit, MA. Campuzano gifted the Guatemalan representatives with several publications resulting from the research projects financed by the PAIGH.

Planning Meeting between the President and the Secretary General of the PAIGH

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), held a virtual meeting with Dr. Patricia Solís, President of this organization, on January the 17th.
The meeting had as its purpose defining the actions that the PAIGH shall put into effect in 2025, a year of special relevance due to the 97th anniversary of its creation and the 95th anniversary of the inauguration of its Palace building headquarters, these celebrations being scheduled for February 7th and May 5th, respectively.
The close cooperation between the Presidency and the General Secretariat is fundamental for the successful fulfilment of the 2022-2025 Strategic Modernization Plan, ensuring the continuity and strengthening of the initiatives of the PAIGH.

Meeting Meeting between the PAIGH and the CEPEIGE for Coordinating Jointly Run Workthe PAIGH and CEPEIGE to Coordinate Joint Work

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), held a virtual meeting with MSc. Nelson Ortega, Director of the Pan American Center for Geographic Studies and Research (CEPEIGE). During the meeting, both managers established the basis for the jointly run work to be performed over the year, with the purpose of strengthening actions to benefit the PAIGH Member States.

Participation of the PAIGH at the XXXVI Meeting of Embassy and Consulate Heads
MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), attended the 36th Meeting of 2025 for those who are heads of Embassies and Consulates, organized by the Secretariat for Foreign Relations of Mexico.
This meeting represents an opportunity to reaffirm links for collaboration between the PAIGH and the country hosting its headquarters, in accordance with its 2022-2025 Strategic Modernization Plan. During the meeting, the Foreign Relations Secretary, Juan Ramón de la Fuente emphasized the importance of taking up again the best Mexican diplomatic traditions, strengthening international cooperation.
The PAIGH, as an international organization, maintains an institutional relation with Mexican authorities, ensuring the continuity of joint initiatives in the scientific and diplomatic sphere.
