Visit by the President of the National Section of the PAIGH in the Dominican Republic to the headquarters palace



At the Palace building headquarters of the PAIGH, we received the satisfying visit of BSc. Bolívar Troncoso Morales, President of the representation of the PAIGH in the Dominican Republic and Director of the “José Joaquín Hungría Morell” National Geographic Institute (IGN-JJHM), accompanied by his distinguished wife, Mrs. Thaisset Bolívar.
MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of this international organization and his wife, Mrs. Verónica Ireta Badillo, received them and offered a substantial tour of the premises of the General Secretariat.
In an atmosphere of cordiality and camaraderie, MA. Campuzano Rosales shared the progress of the work of the Strategic Modernization Plan of the current administration.
BSc. Troncoso, who is an inspiration at international level in the sphere of Geography and who has a long career of uninterrupted work in the PAIGH; remembered and emphasized, with emotional words, his predecessor, Eng. Hungría Morell and his philosophy of the “Pan American family”, “we are all one in the Americas”; this demonstrated his care and scientific interest towards all the nations of America.

Visit of the President of the PAIGH National Section in Mexico

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, the Secretary General of this international organization and his distinguished wife, Mrs. Verónica Ireta Badillo, received the visit of MSc. Jorge Tlatelpa Meléndez, President of the National Section of the PAIGH in Mexico, accompanied by BA Laura Martínez Díaz. MA. Campuzano Rosales presented the Strategic Modernization Plan for 2022-2025 and the six central guiding concepts constituting its material, emphasizing the fact that, among its objectives, there is the strengthening of the relations between the General Secretariat and the structures of the PAIGH. For his part, MSc. Tlatelpa expressed his recognition for the work and dedication, also for the nature and significance of the tasks of the PAIGH, at the same time offering the support of the National Section of the PAIGH in Mexico for the scientific tasks that this international organization performs. Subsequently, he was given a tour through the “Eng. Pedro Celestino Sánchez” Historic Archive, the Gallery of Historians and Geographers of America, and the recently inaugurated “Héctor Oscar José Pena” Library for journals and periodic publications. It should be pointed out that MA. Tlatelpa was named Director General for Educational Policy, Best Practices and Cooperation, of the Public Education Secretariat (SEP) of Mexico.
Work meeting with MSc. Max Lobo Hernández
The Secretary General of the PAIGH, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, held a work meeting with MSc. Max Lobo Hernández, President of the Cartography Commission of this international organization.
At this important meeting, issues involving the performance of the activities of the commission itself such as grants, projects, the Cartographic Journal, among others, were discussed, as part of the participation of MSc Lobo in the statutory meetings of the current year: 101st and 102nd Meeting of the Authorities and the 25th PAIGH General Assembly.
The work in close conjunction with the commissions of this Institute is fundamental for fulfilling the central guiding concepts of the Strategic Modernization Plan for 2022-2025.

Virtual meeting with members of the Special Mission of the Organization of American States, in the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, held a virtual meeting with members of the Special Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS), in the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone: Sergio López Vivanco, Director, and Sofía Cuéllar Hernández, Verification Official.
At this meeting Lieutenant-Colonel Federico Grosso, of the Military Geographic Institute of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, was present; he led the key part of the in-person training for the staff of this Mission in the specialization of geo-referencing.
MA. Campuzano used the occasion to thank Lt.-Col. Grosso for his dedication and effort in the training of the human team of the Adjacency Zone.
To close this major collaboration well, the Secretary General met on this same date with Col. Andrés Moraes, President of the PAIGH National Section in the Oriental Republic of the Uruguay, with the purpose of thanking him personally for the attention and management tasks performed in order to put into effect the training provided to the staff of the Adjacency Zone. With these actions, the PAIGH endorses its mission for working, through science, on building peace in the Pan American region.

Virtual meeting with the President of the PAIGH National Section in Chile

Progress has continued on the preparations for hosting the statutory meetings of this international organization, which shall be held in the final quarter of this year: the 102nd Meeting of PAIGH Authorities and 25th General Assembly.
For this reason, the Secretary General of the PAIGH, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales met, in virtual mode, with Colonel Carlos Prado Casanova, President of the National Section of the PAIGH in Chile. The progress in logistics issues was presented; this provides an interesting overview of how the next General Assembly will take place. It should be clarified that the General Assembly is the supreme entity with authority in the Pan American Institute of Geography and History, and it meets once a year.

Annual Meeting of the National Section of the United States of America of the PAIGH
The welcome from the panel leading the meeting and work was given by Dr. Deirdre Bishop, President of the National Section of this PAIGH member country; she stated her thanks for the presence of the principal members of the four commissions that make up this representation.
As part of the agenda for the meeting, MA. Campuzano, Secretary General of the PAIGH, presented a brief report about the goals reached in this most recent year, in accordance with the Strategic Modernization Plan for 2022-2025, implemented by this administration.
For her part, Dr. Christina Heifferon, of the Department of State of the United States of America, provided an update of her report, from her workplace.
At another moment, Mr. Norberto García reported the latest developments in the Technical Assistance Program for the submission of project proposals for the 2025 cycle.
By its participation in these activities with its National Sections, the PAIGH confirms its commitment to working closely with all the organizations that constitute it, in order to fulfil the objective of strengthening Pan American cooperation.
It was a pleasure for the Secretary General to meet those who constitute the National Section of the United States of America and perform its work with dedication.

Virtual meeting with the editor of the History of America Journal

A meeting was held in virtual mode with the participation of Dr. Alexandra Pita González, Editor of the History of America Journal, Dr. Filiberto Cruz Sánchez, President of the History Commission and MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, PAIGH Secretary General.
During the work session, matters involving the coming issues of the Journal were discussed. Since 2023, this journal has been published at quarterly intervals with the aim of ac1hieving its being indexed in another international academic search system. The organization and progress of the 14th Dominican Congress on History, besides those other tasks that concern the constant work run jointly between the General Secretariat and the History Commission were also discussed.

Visit of authorities of the National Anthropology and History Institute


The host, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, gave a warm welcome to Anthropologist Diego Prieto, Director General of the National Anthropology and History Institute (INAH) and Archeologist Antonio Mondragón, Director of Technical Support for the National Coordination of Historic Monuments of the INAH.
The INAH members accompanied MA. Campuzano on a pleasant tour around the premises of the Palace building headquarters of the PAIGH.
Subsequently, in the “William Bowie” main hall, the Secretary General presented a brief report about his management tasks at the head of this institution.
For his part, Anthropologist Diego Prieto, who at the same time is the Principal Member for the History area of the PAIGH National Section of Mexico, stated his “admiration for the work that the PAIGH performs” and offered to “continue the tasks for cooperation between both institutions”.
These encounters with the institutions of Mexico, strengthen and benefit the presence of the PAIGH in the scientific, academic and diplomatic spheres for the whole of the Pan American community.

MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, gave a warm welcome to Dr. Baltazar Brito Guadarrama, friend and a contributor to the PAIGH, who, when discussing the work that this international organization performs, stated that these tasks are “fundamental for achieving objectives strongly related to a good coexistence among the countries of America”. It should be pointed out that, among the valuable collaborative contributions of the National Library of Anthropology and History, as led by Dr. Brito, there was the conversion to digital media of the complete collections of the scientific journals that the PAIGH publishes, in addition to the support for the digital and physical museography for the “Gallery of Historians and Geographers of America”.

Visit of MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales to the PAIGH National Section in Colombia
MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, accompanied by Dr. Filiberto Cruz Sánchez, President of the History Commission, and by BA. Sergio Martínez, Personal Secretary, visited the National Section of this international organization in Colombia.
The warm welcome was led by Dr. Gustavo Adolfo Marulanda Morales, Director General of the “Agustín Codazzi” Geographic Institute (IGAC), and by Eng. Anderson Puentes, Director of Geographic Information Management of the IGAC, who participated in an enthusiastic work meeting within the framework of strengthening matters of mutual interest: projects, grants, awards, and scientific publications, among other activities that concern the PAIGH and its member countries.

Third Academic Session of the American Congress of Liberty
The Third Academic Session of the American Congress of Liberty were run and took place, hosted by the Colombian Academy of History, the National Academy of History of Ecuador and the Pan American Institute of Geography and History.
The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Dr. Armando Martínez Garnica, President of the Colombian Academy of History (Colombia); Dr. Franklin Barriga, President of the American Congress on History (Ecuador) and MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History.
This annual meeting of outstanding and distinguished historians of America, also consolidated the work run jointly between institutions of various countries of America.
