The PAIGH Secretary General, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, shared a work meeting with the Representative of the Permanent Mission of Haiti to the Organization of American States, Ambassador Gandy Thomas, who was accompanied by his assistants, Mr. Sherlo Antoine and Mr. Jean Bernard Henry.

Ambassador Thomas stated the interest of the Republic of Haiti as a PAIGH Member State in strengthening its participation and collaboration in this international scientific organization. Along the same lines, MA. Campuzano provided specific information on the matter of projects, grants, publications and calls for proposals, in the four areas that the PAIGH is dedicated to: Cartography, Geography, History, Geophysics and related sciences.


The Secretary General of the PAIGH, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, met in virtual mode with representatives of AmeriGEO and of UN-GGIM: Americas, with the aim of reporting on the fulfilment of the agreements set up in 2021 by the PAIGH; also for ratifying the institutional support and follow-up actions for the agreements of the Aguascalientes Declaration and the Joint Action Plan, documents which shall guide the activities to be carried out in the subsequent months. In this work session, MA. Campuzano stated the willingness of the PAIGH to collaborate closely with these international bodies, whose representatives attending the meeting were: Paul L. Riley, Pamela Castillo, Álvaro Monett, Fernanda León, Nancy D. Searby, Leonardo Loureiro and Natalia Bermúdez.


MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, held an interesting work meeting in virtual mode with Dr. Hermann Manríquez Tirado, President of the Geography Commission of this international organization, in the framework of the 101st meeting of PAIGH Authorities. With the aim of assessing, devising and preparing the activities of the four PAIGH Commissions, the Authorities shall meet at the start of following month of July in the Palace Building headquarters, in Mexico City.


In a pleasant visit, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales was at the offices of the Mexican Anthropology Society. He was received by Dr. Ana María Salazar Peralta, Vice-President of the Mexican Anthropology Society.

The two institutions share interests and specific goals, so their collaborative work together shall yield quality scientific production.

This productive meeting is the start of a collaborative relationship between these two institutions, with the purpose of encouraging the dissemination of scientific knowledge in the area of Anthropology and History.


As part of the agenda for work in Paraguay, MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, PAIGH Secretary General, met with Colonel DCEM Pedro Gustavo Rodríguez Martínez, Director of the Military Geographic Service and President of the PAIGH National Section in Paraguay.
The Secretary General provided to the Paraguayan scientific community information about the openness of the PAIGH towards encouraging their participation in the Technical Assistance Program in projects and publications, in addition to sharing information about the various grants and annual awards, with the aim of interesting the professionals of the areas that the Institute is concerned with: Cartography, Geography, Geophysics and History.

Meetings such as these strengthen the links of collaboration between the PAIGH and its National Sections, thus fulfilling the objectives laid out, under the current administration, through the Strategic Modernization Plan for 2022-2025.


MA. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General of the PAIGH, participated in the inauguration of the 54th General Assembly of the Organization of American States, which took place in the city of Asunción, Republic of Paraguay, from the 26th to the 28th of June, 2024.

The relations between the Pan American Institute of Geography and History and the Organization of American States started some years after the creation of the latter. In the year 1949, the PAIGH signed an agreement by which it became the first specialized agency of that organization.

Since then, the PAIGH has sustained itself as a point of reference in science for the States of the Pan American community which it supports by means of its various programs, such as those of the Technical Assistance and the Publications, in addition to its call for proposals for the provision of grants and awards.


In this cordial visit, MA. Campuzano met Mr. Gustavo Acosta Toledo and Dr. Ma. Graciela Monte de López Moreira, President and Librarian of this institution dedicated to the dissemination of studies in and knowledge of history.

The authorities of the Academy agreed with MA. Campuzano to cooperate and provide support reciprocally.  

The PAIGH, as a specialized organization of the OAS, confirms its commitment to the Pan American community upon initiating these strategic alliances that result in the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
