Visit by His Excellency the Ambassador of Uruguay to the PAIGH


The Palace headquarters of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History received a visit from Ambassador Aníbal F. Cabral Segalerba, accompanied by Minister Counsellor Noelia Martínez Franchi, from the Embassy of Uruguay in Mexico.
During the formal ceremony, the Secretary General highlighted the significant support provided by the Member State of Uruguay to the Pan American community in relation to the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone (OAS/ZA), through the Military Geographical Institute.
He also emphasised the work carried out at the PAIGH by César Rodríguez Tomeo, during the period 2018-2022.

Inauguration of the AUEMex Model United Nations

The Secretary General of the PAIGH, Antonio Campuzano Rosales, participated in the inauguration of the sixth edition of the event entitled: ‘Model United Nations of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico,’ PotroMUN UAEMex.
The event was held in the Isidro Fabela Alfaro Auditorium of the Faculty of Law, with the attendance of young students from that Mexican institution.

Commemoration of the 212th Anniversary of Paraguay’s Independence
On the occasion of the 212th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Paraguay, the head of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History attended the commemorative ceremony organised by the Paraguayan Embassy in Mexico.

Honorary Distinction for the Secretary General of the PAIGH
As a prelude to the Second Academic Conference of the American Congress of Freedom, Antonio Campuzano Rosales was honoured as a Foreign Honorary Member of the National Academy of History of Ecuador. This is a well-deserved recognition of his invaluable contribution to the field of history.

This important event took place at the National Academy of History and Geography in Mexico City and was organised by various national and international institutions, such as the PAIGH, the National Academy of History of Ecuador, the Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean (CIALC) of the UNAM, the National History Museum ‘Castillo de Chapultepec’ and the Latin American Institute for Educational Communication (ILCE).
The inauguration was graced by the presence of the following academics and specialists in the topics covered by the Congress:
- Dr Franklin Barriga, President of the American Congress of Freedom.
- Dr Patricia Galeana, President of the History Commission of the PAIGH for the period 2014-2021.
- Dr. Regina Tapia, Director of the Historical Archive of Mexico City.
- Dr. Efraín Guadarrama Pérez, Director General, American Regional Organisations and Mechanisms of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE).
- Dr. Gerardo Serrano Gasca, Director, Regional Integration in Latin America and the Caribbean, SRE.
Similarly, the programme of presentations was enriched by the participation of distinguished historians from 14 American countries: Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, the United States of America, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the host country, Mexico.
