Inauguration of the 99th Meeting of Authorities of the PAIGH


The 99th Meeting of Authorities of this international organization was held in Guatemala City, Guatemala. During the opening of this important statutory meeting of the PAIGH, Mr. Antonio Campuzano Rosales, Secretary General, referred to the upcoming centenary of the PAIGH (in 2028) and highlighted the privileged and challenging position of the Authorities “as captains of a ship sailing towards this important milestone.”
This meeting provided a unique opportunity to join forces and work together towards the strengthening and renewal of the PAIGH. The Authorities, as a coordinating body, are responsible for ensuring compliance with the resolutions of the PAIGH General Assembly and proposing initiatives on matters within their competence.

Meeting of the General Secretariat of the PAIGH with the Presidents of the Commissions

The General Secretariat of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History held a remote meeting with the presidents of its four commissions to review the status of each of the Technical Assistance Program (PAT) projects.

Coordination meeting with the Dominican Republic
A virtual meeting was held with the President of the National Section of the PAIGH in the Dominican Republic and Director of the National Geographic Institute “José Joaquín Hungría Morell,” Mr. Bolívar Troncoso Morales, who was accompanied by his respective work team.
The Secretary General of the PAIGH coordinated and finalized logistical details to ensure the smooth running and completion of the statutory meetings for the year, including the 24th General Assembly of this international organization, which will be held in November of this year in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Signing of the Third Specific Collaboration Agreement

The signing of the “Third Specific Collaboration Agreement” between the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) and the Center for Research in Geospatial Information Sciences, A.C. (CentroGEO) took place.
The purpose of this agreement is to establish the general basis and mechanisms of cooperation for granting scholarships for the benefit of the Pan American community.

Creation of the PAIGH Civil Protection Brigade

As part of the PAIGH Civil Protection Brigade, a first aid course was held for the staff of the PAIGH General Secretariat at the headquarters building. These activities are in line with the “Strategic Plan for the Modernization of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History 2022-2025,” which establishes that the necessary measures must be analyzed and taken to improve and strengthen the quality of life and professional and work development of staff, considering that human resources are the most valuable asset of the PAIGH.
